Cy Twombly in Venice

I’d never been to Venice before and was not particularly looking forward to the mass of tourists, even though I was one.

I stayed at a very nice Air B&B in Lido, which is a short ferry ride from Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia.

I arrived at the Peggy Guggenheim quite late in the day and was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the work on show.

In particular there was a fascinatingly beautiful and peaceful work by Cy Twombly which I wanted to smuggle away under my coat and hang in my living room.

If you ever get a chance to visit the Peggy Guggenheim in Venice, I suggest arriving early and staying for at least half a day. The view from the balcony right on the Grand Canal is worth the entrance price alone (my photo above).
